Cookie policy

Information about the cookies used on www.powergrid-solution.ro and about how the user can manage their preferences.

Last updated: 8 August 2026

English translation, provided for convenience. The binding version of this cookie policy is the Romanian one, published at www.powergrid-solution.ro/legal/cookies. In case of any discrepancy between the two texts, the Romanian version prevails.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small files, made up of letters and numbers, stored by the browser on the user's device (computer, phone, tablet) when a website is accessed. Cookies make it possible to recognise the device on subsequent visits and ensure that certain components of the website work. The same rules apply to the other local storage technologies used by the website, such as localStorage and sessionStorage, which are covered by this policy together with the cookies.

The use of cookies is regulated by Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR), by Law no. 506/2004 on the processing of personal data and the protection of privacy in the electronic communications sector and by the ePrivacy directive.

2. Types of cookies used on this website

2.1 Strictly necessary cookies

They are installed without consent, on the basis of Art. 4 (5) (b) of Law no. 506/2004, so that the website can work. This category covers the cookie that stores the interface language (NEXT_LOCALE), the cookie that stores the answer given in the cookie banner (pg_consent), the session cookie of the chat assistant, written only at the moment the visitor opens the chat window (pg_chat_session), the authentication cookies of the administration area (Supabase) and the cookie that switches on content edit mode for signed-in editors (pg_edit_mode). Each of them is described individually, with its name, duration and recipient, in section 3.

2.2 Functional cookies

They retain usage preferences, chiefly the interface language (Romanian, English or the Republic of Moldova variant) and the equivalent page that has to be served on subsequent visits. On this website the language preference is stored in the NEXT_LOCALE cookie, treated as strictly necessary. Its lifetime depends on how the language was determined: when the visitor explicitly picks a language in the switcher the preference is kept for 12 months; when the language follows only from the address visited (one carrying the /en or /md prefix), the cookie is a session cookie and disappears when the browser closes. When the language is inferred from the browser's Accept-Language header, no cookie is written at all. The cookie is not used for commercial profiling.

2.3 Analytics cookies

The website uses PostHog for product analytics (aggregated usage statistics) and for the automatic capture of application errors. PostHog is loaded only after the visitor has given explicit consent through the cookie banner; until that moment no PostHog cookie is installed, nothing is written to localStorage or sessionStorage and no event is sent. Collection runs through the European instance PostHog Cloud EU (eu.i.posthog.com), with storage in the European Union, on AWS infrastructure in Frankfurt (the eu-central-1 region). The provider of the service is PostHog, Inc., a company established in the United States of America, which acts as a processor and which may access the data from the United States; the transfer mechanisms are described in the privacy policy. Google Analytics, Meta Pixel and Hotjar are not used. Consent may be withdrawn at any time, and the withdrawal immediately stops the collection and deletes the cookies and the locally stored data of PostHog.

2.4 Marketing and third-party cookies

As at the date of this policy update, the website does not use advertising or retargeting cookies. No external content that installs cookies (of the YouTube, Vimeo, Calendly or social network type) is embedded in the public pages of the website. The links to LinkedIn and to other platforms open third-party pages and do not install cookies on this domain.

3. List of the cookies and of the local storage items

The list below covers every cookie and every local storage item installed by the website, with the exact name under which it appears in the browser, the party that installs it, its purpose, its lifespan, its category, its legal basis and the recipient that has access to it.

NEXT_LOCALE

Party
First-party cookie
Purpose
Stores the interface language (Romanian, English or the Republic of Moldova variant) and, on subsequent visits, serves the equivalent page in the chosen language.
Duration
12 months (365 days) only when the language is explicitly picked in the language switcher. When the language follows only from the address visited (an /en or /md prefix), the cookie is a session cookie. When the language is inferred from the Accept-Language header, no cookie is written.
Category
Strictly necessary (functional)
Legal basis
Art. 4 (5) (b) of Law no. 506/2004 — a cookie necessary for providing the service requested by the user.
Recipient
No third party. The cookie is read only by the www.powergrid-solution.ro server.

pg_consent

Party
First-party cookie
Purpose
Stores the answer given in the cookie banner: the version of the policy accepted, the date and time of the decision, the way it was taken (accept all, reject all or a granular choice) and the categories accepted. It prevents the banner from being shown again on every page and makes it possible to demonstrate consent under Art. 7 (1) GDPR.
Duration
12 months (365 days). Once it expires the banner is shown again and the decision is taken afresh.
Category
Strictly necessary
Legal basis
Art. 4 (5) (b) of Law no. 506/2004 — without this cookie the user's choice cannot be honoured.
Recipient
No third party. The cookie is read only by the www.powergrid-solution.ro server.

pg_chat_session

Party
First-party cookie
Purpose
Identifies one conversation held with the chat assistant of the website: it ties together the messages of the same discussion, it makes it possible to correlate the technical server logs and it limits the number of messages sent within a single conversation. The value is an opaque random identifier, generated in the browser, which contains and derives no information whatsoever about the visitor. It is not used for profiling, for behavioural analysis or for advertising.
Duration
A session cookie: it has no expiry date and is deleted by the browser when the browser is closed. The button that starts a new conversation in the chat window replaces the value with a fresh identifier.
Category
Strictly necessary
Legal basis
Art. 4 (5) (b) of Law no. 506/2004 and Art. 5 (3) of the ePrivacy directive — a cookie necessary for providing a service explicitly requested by the user. It is written only at the moment the visitor opens the chat window, never on a mere page load; precisely because it appears only after that deliberate action, installing it requires no consent.
Recipient
No third party. The cookie is read only by the www.powergrid-solution.ro server, and its value is not passed on to the provider of the language model that generates the replies.

sb-supabase-auth-token, together with the chunks sb-supabase-auth-token.0 and sb-supabase-auth-token.1 and, during sign-in, sb-supabase-auth-token-code-verifier

Party
First-party cookie
Purpose
Keeps the authenticated session of the administrators and of the content editors in the /admin area and while editing in the page. Visitors who do not sign in never receive this cookie. The name is generated automatically by the Supabase library from the address of the configured database instance, and the value, being too large for a single cookie, is split into numbered chunks.
Duration
As set by the Supabase configuration: in the current library configuration, at most 400 days, renewed on every session refresh. The cookie is deleted on sign-out. The -code-verifier item exists only for the duration of the sign-in procedure.
Category
Strictly necessary
Legal basis
Art. 4 (5) (b) of Law no. 506/2004 — an authentication cookie, indispensable to the service requested by the user who signs in.
Recipient
PowerGrid Solution S.R.L. and the provider of the Supabase database service, as a processor, with infrastructure within the European Union.

pg_edit_mode (cookie) and pg_edit_mode (sessionStorage)

Party
First-party cookie and first-party sessionStorage item
Purpose
Switches on the in-page edit mode of the content management system. It is installed only for signed-in editors, after edit mode has been explicitly enabled; ordinary visitors never receive it.
Duration
12 hours for the cookie. The equivalent sessionStorage item is deleted when the browser tab is closed. Both are deleted immediately when edit mode is switched off.
Category
Strictly necessary
Legal basis
Art. 4 (5) (b) of Law no. 506/2004 — necessary for the administration service requested by the signed-in editor.
Recipient
No third party. They are read only by the website and by its own content management system.

ph_phc_xu6nVJge3zWrRjrzB8oqELhFB5x3bjJz4F5oteWm9yeV_posthog

Party
First-party cookie, written by the PostHog library in the browser; its content is transmitted to PostHog, a third party
Purpose
Product analytics and automatic error capture: a pseudonymous identifier of the visitor and of the session, the pages visited, the source of the visit (referrer or marketing channel), the type of device and of browser, together with the diagnostics of application errors.
Duration
365 days.
Category
Analytics
Legal basis
Consent — Art. 4 (5) of Law no. 506/2004 and Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR. The cookie is not installed before explicit acceptance in the cookie banner.
Recipient
PostHog, Inc., 2261 Market St. #4008, San Francisco, CA 94114, United States of America, as a processor. The data is collected through the PostHog Cloud EU instance (eu.i.posthog.com) and stored in the European Union, on AWS infrastructure in Frankfurt (eu-central-1), but it may be accessed by the provider from the United States.

ph_phc_xu6nVJge3zWrRjrzB8oqELhFB5x3bjJz4F5oteWm9yeV_posthog (localStorage)

Party
First-party localStorage item, written by the PostHog library
Purpose
Stores the pseudonymous identifier and the persistent properties of the visitor, together with the values of the feature flags, so that repeated calls to the server are avoided.
Duration
No expiry date. It stays in the browser until consent is withdrawn, at which point it is deleted automatically, or until the site data is deleted manually.

__ph_opt_in_out_phc_xu6nVJge3zWrRjrzB8oqELhFB5x3bjJz4F5oteWm9yeV

Party
First-party cookie, written by the PostHog library
Purpose
Stores the choice itself to allow or to refuse collection by PostHog, so that a refusal is honoured on subsequent visits as well.
Duration
As set by the PostHog configuration; 365 days by default.
Category
Strictly necessary
Legal basis
Art. 4 (5) (b) of Law no. 506/2004 — a cookie necessary in order to give effect to the user's own choice.
Recipient
No third party. The cookie stays in the browser and sends no data to PostHog.

The phc_… string in the names of the PostHog cookies and items is the public identifier of the PostHog project, visible in the page source; if it is changed, the names of the items above change with it. The name of the Supabase authentication cookies is derived automatically from the address of the configured database instance. The website installs no cookies other than the ones listed here.

4. Duration of the cookies

  • Session cookies: they are deleted automatically when the browser is closed;
  • Persistent cookies: they remain on the device for a set period (usually between a few days and 12 months) or until the user deletes them manually.
  • Local storage items: sessionStorage items disappear when the tab is closed, while localStorage items have no expiry date and remain until consent is withdrawn or until the site data is deleted manually.

5. How cookies are managed

The user can accept, refuse or delete cookies directly from the browser settings. Below are the official guides for the most used browsers:

Disabling the strictly necessary cookies may affect the operation of some components of the website, in particular the submission of the contact form and the retention of the chosen language.

6. Consent and withdrawal of consent

Strictly necessary cookies are installed without consent, on the basis of the exemption provided for in Art. 4 (5) (b) of Law no. 506/2004. The analytics cookies described under 2.3 are installed only on the basis of consent, expressed through a clear affirmative action in the cookie banner. Until consent is given, the PostHog library is not loaded and writes nothing to the device; a refusal carries exactly the same weight as an acceptance and is not asked for again during the visit.

Consent may be withdrawn at any time, as easily as it was given, from the cookie banner or by deleting the cookies in the browser settings. Withdrawal immediately stops the collection, deletes the cookies and the local storage items installed by PostHog, and does not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out before the withdrawal. The choice is remembered for 12 months, after which the banner is shown again.

7. Updates to the policy

The cookie policy may be amended to reflect technical or legislative changes. The applicable version is always the one published on this page, together with the date of the last update. If a new tool is added to a category that requires consent, an earlier consent cannot cover it and the banner is shown again.
